The inspiration for this comes from a tour I took with students a few years back at Adobe's Lehi, UT location. Specific aspects of their company were designed to meet the creative needs and strengths of their employees, from building layout to indoor climbing wall to cafeteria, I kept thinking Autism Spectrum employees and those creative types who are so good in the tech industry.
We had students ready to drop everything and apply when they heard that Adobe had positions for all types of people--the gist of the message--get a 4-year degree and we will look at your strengths and find a job for you. Yes, there was a game room in the basement of the building lit with red lights, yes, they help with finding housing and other day-to-day needs, and yes, they have personal trainers on-site to encourage physical activity. I was impressed!
Do a quick search of "Companies hiring adults with autism" to get started. You'll also find internship options as well. What companies do you know seeking the creativity of those on the autism spectrum?
